The End of an Era

Our brothers from another mother, the power duo known as Antonio and Tom from Switch to Manual, made a big announcement on their latest episode of Street Shots, episode 69. Please join us as we talk about Street Shots, Masha Ivashintsova, and more!

Finding Masha

The work of late photographer, Masha Ivashintsova, was discovered when boxes of negatives were found by a family member and are now being shared with the public. PetaPixel compared her to the Russian Vivian Maier. While we do not think this necessarily calls for a comparison of the two women, it is still exciting to find lost photographs and hope to learn more about this woman and her photography.

Where’s Art?

Legendary wildlife and nature photographer, Art Wolfe, has collaborated with sports/nature/travel photographer, Mitch Stringer, to produce a visual podcast about Art’s travels around the world. These short episodes give us stunning photography and great information from Art and Mitch. Definitely worth the watch!

Gear Swoon

Before the Photokina fun starts, some companies have announced new tools and toys and you know the folks at Fuji are no different with the announcement of a new X-T1. We can’t image why at this point, but it’s kind of flashy and funky looking with a string of cool feature, so this might appeal to those thinking about buying the X-T1. The great thing is current X-T1 owners will have the firmware update come sometime in December, giving us the lot of upgrades. There’s also the new 56 ƒ1.2 APD lens and the 50-140mm ƒ2.8 lens. Check out the press release for all the goodness and the Fuji Guys latest video for more!

Vivian Maier

The latest news indicates there is a legal battle brewing regarding her body of work. We touch on a couple details during the show, but you can find all the information here.

Here Comes The Judge

With the latest news over Vivian Maier’s work and other discussions about whose opinions really matter when it comes to your photographs, it got us thinking – who is the ultimate judge of your images? We took to the mics in an attempt to tackle this very broad subject. Please join us as we try to figure it out.

What are you looking forward to coming out of Photokina this week? I’m curious what our Fuji shooters in particular think about the Graphite X-T1 release? Is it too soon? Should they have kept it at a firmware update only with the original X-T1? Let’s switch gear to our bodies of work – who is ultimately the judge of your photography? What is your take on this? Does knowing others are judging your work impact how you make images and even share them? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this and more, so please check us out at TwitterBookFaceG+, and of course, you can subscribe for free via iTunes.

If y’all even made it through this show, we thank you! It’s been a long week / month, friends. Thanks as alway for tuning in!

Cheers, y’all!

He’s baaaack …

2 years after we first jammed with Jamey, we sat down with Mr. Photo himself to catch up the happenings in his photography world and to chat about street photographer, Vivian Maier. Earlier this month, Mac and Jamey both attended the sneak preview of Finding Vivian Maier here in Edmonton, and the two chaps share with us their thoughts about the film, what we think Vivian herself might feel about this growing interest of her work, the impact her large body of work is having on photographers today, and more!

Vivian, Revisited

We have discussed her work and a couple of books on a previous show, which left us wanting to see the film even more. Since 50% of the co-hosts actually made it to the theatre, we thought it was a great time to revisit this never-ending intriguing photographer and topic. Would we see her differently after the movie? Have the many questions surrounding the mystery about her work and the woman herself been answered? Join us for the chat and find out!

Bits ‘n Bites

We’d love to know your thoughts on Vivian Maier. What do you think of her work and will she make an impact on the industry as a whole, the street photography genre or maybe on individual photographers? Why or why not? Please chime in and join the convo! You can find us over yonder at Facebook,  Google Plus and Twitter. Don’t forget you can subscribe for free via iTunes! If you have the Stitcher App, you can also find us there!

Don’t forget to check out Jamey’s fantastic work! I wonder if we will see him hitting the streets of Edmonton with a Rolleiflex one day…  Hmmm …

Shutter Time News Alert

Finding Vivian Maier – back in Edmonton! The Metro Cinema will be showing the film on select dates between April 17th – April 26th. Check out the guide for show times and more details!

Thanks again, Jamey, for the great discussion (and the photos for this post)! Congrats again on your Edmonton New Media Awards nomination for Best in Photography and best of luck at The Yeggies in May, matey!

Thanks as always for tuning in, folks!

Cheers, y’all!

Episode 69 »» Woe thy name is Nikon

Oh, Nikon

They’ve been teasing us for weeks with their Pure Photography series of videos, but finally we found out the scoop! Oh, yeah! I’m thinking one co-host prefers this body over the other … hmmm.

Vivian Maier – Self Portraits

Mac really thinks this book is even better than the first one, Vivian Maier – Street Photographer. Knowing Mac’s aversion to self portraits (and photography books), this is saying a lot!

Bits n’ Bites

We would love to hear your thoughts on the new Nikon Dƒ! Is this just to satisfy those retro junkies or do you think we have a solid new body on our hands, especially in the ever increasing mirrorless system world? Have you had a moment to check out Vivian’s work yet? Please let us know what you think of her work and the mysterious woman behind it! You can stay connected with us between shows by checking us out at Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus! Don’t forget you can subscribe for free to our show via iTunes! If you have the Stitcher app, you can check out us there as well. We appreciate every download / listen and comment, so thanks as always for continuing to tune in, folks!

Cheers, y’all!
