Happy New Year

Ah, we’re back with the first show of the new year! Before we dive in and go over photography RSS feeds, we thought we’d start the new year with Fuji rumours. Of course. I don’t think there is a camera this podcast loves more than the little X-Pro 1. Hmmm…maybe the Nikon Df. Hehehe …

RSS, Yo!

We first visited this topic a couple years ago back in episode 16 and we’re at it again! We went on the hunt to find photographers who we felt had some sort of active blog presence and whose sites have taken up residency in our RSS feeds. In no particular order, we power through the list of talented photographers! Please have a listen and hopefully you will take a moment to check these folks out and take a look at their work.

I know there are many photographers we have missed, so this is where y’all come in! Please leave a comment here, or drop by our Facebook, G+ or Twitter and let us know the links of your must-read photography blogs. Always a fan of self promotion, if you would like to share your own site, please link us up and promote yourselves! We’ll make sure to tweet / share on Facebook, etc.

Bits ‘n Bites

Speaking of self promotion ….. you can check us out on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus. You can also find us on Stitcher and of course, iTunes, where you can subscribe for free.

We hope everyone had a brilliant holiday season and y’all are ready to make some bloody fantastic images in 2014!

Thanks as always for tuning in, folks! Mucho appreciated!

Cheers, y’all!

A Familiar Face

And voice! Our good friend, Michael Van der Tol, stopped by the ol’ Shutter Time bunker for a chat about photography … travel photography in particular! It was great to have him back on the show. It’s been a year since we first had Michael on the show, so please have a listen to that interview if you haven’t done so yet! This time we were less formal and we focused on travelling with your camera, which is something Michael loves to do. You should definitely check out his work!

Flickr Books, eh?

Ah, yes … Flickr has introduced a new product. It’s not a change to their site (phew, enough already!), but this time a dandy product that will make Canadians leap for joy. But not really. The folks of Flickr have rolled out their Flickr books …. but before you start clicking away, have a listen and see who is eligible to create and receive these books. Having a Flickr account is simply not enough, y’all …

Travel Photography, Y’all

It’s one of those never ending topics and even though we’ve discussed it before, we take to the mics and revisit this kind of photography with our pal, Michael! We cover a few tips, a few stories, some aspects we don’t always think about when prepping for a trip, but we definitely cannot forget, and more. Please join us as we kick back for a great chat!

The Audio Stylings of Uncle Murphy

He has returned. Again. The bastard.

Bits n’ Bites

We would love to hear your tips, tricks, stories and more about travel photography! What are your thoughts on the new Flickr books? Anything else on your mind, photography wise? As always, you can find us on TwitterFacebookGoogle Plus, via Stitcher and of course, you can subscribe for free on iTunes!

A big thanks to Michael Van der Tol for hanging out with us for a couple of hours! Thanks as always for tuning in, folks! We appreciate every listen / download. Truly.

Cheers, y’all!

Episode 46 ~ Year End Reflections, 2012

Episode 46 ~ Year End Reflections, 2012, reflections, Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, camera apps, photography, shutter time with sid and mac, podcast, yegphotoThe End Is Near

The year end, that is! We took to our mics for one last time in 2012 to discuss and reflect on what we have learned this year from having our podcast, why we still have fun recording, etc. But before we get to sitting back with some Christmas cheer induced beverages, we dive in the Instagram debate of late …

Oh No, They Didn’t!

Even though by the time this podcast hits the ol’ internets, the news will be a little old, it’s still being talked about and for good reason. Instagram (Facebook) shocked many photographers and those in and around the industry alike by revising their TOS (terms of service), which implied they would be able to sell your images to advertisers without your consent or knowledge. I know, right? We chew over what the hell they were thinking and the revisions to the revision (ha!) that have taken place due to some strong ass backlash. Have a listen and please let us know what you think about this!

Flickr, You Dead Sexy Thing

Perfect timing on Flickr’s part, but they have done something with their aging app, causing many toes to curl and even tingle.

Ooh, Growth

We reflect over our last year of podcasting and how it has changed us. ‘Nuff said, right? Please tune in and allow us to indulge in more self absorbed chatter. Sort of.

Our Internet Homes

As always, you can find us on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, and of course, you can subscribe for free on iTunes!

A Couple More Notes

We can’t thank you enough for continuing to tune in to our little podcast. It means more to us than you can probably imagine. You’re all fantastic and we couldn’t do this without you.

We forgot to mention this on the show (oh, bugger), but of course, we cannot forget our wonderful friends and guests for sitting down with us for interviews and having a good ol’ photography chat! Thank you so much for participating in the show. Our brilliant and super talented guests have been:

Terry O’Riordan

Jamey M. Photo

John De Bord

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Feliz Navidad, Happy New Year, candy cane tingles and much more! We are very much looking forward to rocking the mics with you all again in 2013 and making some memories with our cameras. Rawr.

Thanks for tuning in!

Cheers, y’all!

Gear Chat

Before we get rolling with our interview with Michael, we start the show off with a little bit of gear chat and Mac’s mini rant.

It’s About Time

Michael has been absolutely wonderful to our show, listening to us yap since the beginning, and we cannot thank him enough for his support. To have him finally on the show was pretty special to us, and we had such a good time chatting with him. Please have a listen and get to know a little more behind the photographic mind of Michael Van der Tol.

Update: we were lucky enough to have Michael back on the show in November 2013! We caught up with the happenings in his photography life as well as discussed travel photography, something Michael knows very well! Please have a listen and check out our latest chat w/ Michael!

Bits ‘n Bites

Are you planning to grope the Canon M or Fuji X-E1 when they hit the shelves in your neck of the woods? What do you think about selling gear you are no longer using on a regular basis?

Getting Social

We’re going to try and get a little more social, so while we are not going to be hanging in any new places on the internets, we will definitely be spending more time where we already are. Hit us up on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, and of course, please subscribe for free on iTunes! If it’s not obvious yet, we love to talk about photography and would love to interact with you, our brilliant listeners.

Thanks for tuning in!

Cheers, y’all!

When Opportunity Knocks

Back in November, Moose Peterson dropped by the Googleplex to have a chat about photography. We dish on my reaction (after watching the video) to his killer presentation and audience participation.

The Shutter Time Top 10

This may not be the normal top ten list most of us are used to, but we each pulled 5 of our must read photo blogs from our RSS feeds and discussed why these 10 photographers have grabbed our attention. Have a listen (and check out their work!) and let us know what you think about these talented folks! No worries – you’re not seeing double as you read below; we had one photographer who snagged a spot on both of our lists. I hope he feels the love.

Our Random Top 10 (as presented on the show):

John Batdorff – Landscape and Travel Photographer

Jake Peterson – Wildlife / Aviation / Landscape

Christa Meola – Boudoir

Dan Jurak – Alberta Landscapes

Dan Jurak – Alberta Landscapes

Wayne Simpson – Landscapes / Weddings / Portraits

Bits ‘n Bites

Next week we’ll be having our friend, Terry O’Riordan join us on the show for a chat! We can’t wait to dish with him. We’d love to hear which photographers are a must read on your RSS feed! Please share the goods and link them up. We’re always chilling around Twitter and have started a Google Plus page, so drop by and say hello, would ya?! Word on the street is we might be making our way to Facebook. How old school of us, right? We’ll keep you posted!

Thanks as always for tuning in!

Cheers, y’all!
