Shutter Time With Sid and Mac, episode 90, Please join us for episode 90 as we cover some news from Dropbox, 500px, and dish on a couple of photo blogs from Matt Kloskowski and Jake Peterson! We are covering it all tonight, folks …

Accept It, Eh?

Matt Kloskowski penned a great article that gives us the number one not-so hidden secret to photographing amazing landscapes. It’s simple as pie, and he’s spot on. Tune in as we chat about his post!

Check out some great comments from Michael Van der Tol and Robert Coffey on our blog and G+. I loved these comments and thought they needed to be shared. Thanks, chaps!

Flickr’s Twin?

Ah, first 500px came out with licensing, which garnered a mix reaction, and now they have taken a page from the folks at Flickr and have whipped up groups and discussions. Does such a service really belong on a site such as 500px? It’s in beta testing right now, so if you’re on 500px, take a look.

Dropbox, Yo!

The good folks at Dropbox gave their pro users a big upgrade when it comes to storage. We quickly break it down. Make sure to check out the different plans they offer if you’re not already a user.

It’s Your Blog, Right?

Jake Peterson wrote a short, but interesting piece about what should be included in your blog. This may not have been the purpose of his post, but it got us thinking — if we are using a site for our business, what kind of posts and images should make the blog? Do you include and blog about your mistakes or only have the best of the best on there. How can you show growth and discuss lessons with only top notch work being posted on the blog? Is this even necessary?

We’d love to hear thoughts on the show! If you made it through our mixed bag of nuts and rambles, high five, eh? What do you think about the changes at 500px? How important is it to live near your target locations, be it landscapes, wildlife, etc.? Do you have any photo blog rules yourself? Btw, if you haven’t done so yet, please check out episode 78 with Jake Peterson! You can also check us out at Bookface, Twitter, Google Plus and of course, you can find us on iTunes and the Stitcher app!

Thanks as always for tuning in! Mucho appreciated.

Cheers, y’all!

Shutter Time High

After following his career on the show for the last couple of years, we were thrilled when Jake Peterson agreed to come on the show. He’s a big time wildlife, landscape and aviation photographer with a unique background, which led him to where he is today. Jake brings a fresh, yet sharp perspective to photography today and has a lot of interesting experiences and stories to tell. Luckily for us, he shares some of the wealth with us on the show.

Wildlife … landscapes … aviation … business … and passion … we cover it all!

This is Jake’s first podcast, so we were a wee gentle on him … sort of! Sit back, friends, relax and enjoy this great episode with Jake! You will learn a ton from this incredibly talented photographer and I bet you just might end up with a new appreciation for our wild heritage and see aviation history in a new light after the show.

Happy New Year

Ah, we’re back with the first show of the new year! Before we dive in and go over photography RSS feeds, we thought we’d start the new year with Fuji rumours. Of course. I don’t think there is a camera this podcast loves more than the little X-Pro 1. Hmmm…maybe the Nikon Df. Hehehe …

RSS, Yo!

We first visited this topic a couple years ago back in episode 16 and we’re at it again! We went on the hunt to find photographers who we felt had some sort of active blog presence and whose sites have taken up residency in our RSS feeds. In no particular order, we power through the list of talented photographers! Please have a listen and hopefully you will take a moment to check these folks out and take a look at their work.

I know there are many photographers we have missed, so this is where y’all come in! Please leave a comment here, or drop by our Facebook, G+ or Twitter and let us know the links of your must-read photography blogs. Always a fan of self promotion, if you would like to share your own site, please link us up and promote yourselves! We’ll make sure to tweet / share on Facebook, etc.

Speaking of self promotion ….. you can check us out on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus. You can also find us on Stitcher and of course, iTunes, where you can subscribe for free.

We hope everyone had a brilliant holiday season and y’all are ready to make some bloody fantastic images in 2014!

Thanks as always for tuning in, folks! Mucho appreciated!

Cheers, y’all!

When Opportunity Knocks

Back in November, Moose Peterson dropped by the Googleplex to have a chat about photography. We dish on my reaction (after watching the video) to his killer presentation and audience participation.

The Shutter Time Top 10

This may not be the normal top ten list most of us are used to, but we each pulled 5 of our must read photo blogs from our RSS feeds and discussed why these 10 photographers have grabbed our attention. Have a listen (and check out their work!) and let us know what you think about these talented folks! No worries – you’re not seeing double as you read below; we had one photographer who snagged a spot on both of our lists. I hope he feels the love.

Our Random Top 10 (as presented on the show):

John Batdorff – Landscape and Travel Photographer

Jake Peterson – Wildlife / Aviation / Landscape

Christa Meola – Boudoir

Dan Jurak – Alberta Landscapes

Dan Jurak – Alberta Landscapes

Wayne Simpson – Landscapes / Weddings / Portraits

Bits ‘n Bites

Next week we’ll be having our friend, Terry O’Riordan join us on the show for a chat! We can’t wait to dish with him. We’d love to hear which photographers are a must read on your RSS feed! Please share the goods and link them up. We’re always chilling around Twitter and have started a Google Plus page, so drop by and say hello, would ya?! Word on the street is we might be making our way to Facebook. How old school of us, right? We’ll keep you posted!

Thanks as always for tuning in!

Cheers, y’all!
