Oops, We Did it Again.

With @supercellsid as my Twitter handle, it wasn’t too surprising I went nuts over this new series from our listener and good friend of the show, Laurie (@haveteacup). We will let her tell the full story on her blog, but she has been starting to discover her photo DNA and this journey has led her to an incredible treasure, wonderfully named, The Thelma Files. Make sure y’all check out her blog and Instagram for more goodness on this series about her grandmother, a photographer and storm enthusiast!

SmugMug + Flickr = True Love?

It is no secret to many that SmugMug has scooped up the often-neglected photography sharing site and community, Flickr. What exactly does this mean for Flickr members? Is this a match made in heaven or does it spell the end of the Flickr we once knew and loved? Please join us as we discuss Sidnados, SmugMug, voices in your photography and more (inspiration vs. appreciation, y’all!). You can also listen to our Mac have a great discussion about this new SmugMug + Flickr journey on the excellent podcast, Cybrcast, episode 091.

Sitka, Alaska by Michael Van der Tol

A Familiar Face

And voice! Our good friend, Michael Van der Tol, stopped by the ol’ Shutter Time bunker for a chat about photography … travel photography in particular! It was great to have him back on the show. It’s been a year since we first had Michael on the show, so please have a listen to that interview if you haven’t done so yet! This time we were less formal and we focused on travelling with your camera, which is something Michael loves to do. You should definitely check out his work!

Flickr Books, eh?

Ah, yes … Flickr has introduced a new product. It’s not a change to their site (phew, enough already!), but this time a dandy product that will make Canadians leap for joy. But not really. The folks of Flickr have rolled out their Flickr books …. but before you start clicking away, have a listen and see who is eligible to create and receive these books. Having a Flickr account is simply not enough, y’all …

The Big Beast

Someone has a new toy and it’s a big boy. Heh.

Travel Photography, Y’all

It’s one of those never ending topics and even though we’ve discussed it before, we take to the mics and revisit this kind of photography with our pal, Michael! We cover a few tips, a few stories, some aspects we don’t always think about when prepping for a trip, but we definitely cannot forget, and more. Please join us as we kick back for a great chat!

The Audio Stylings of Uncle Murphy

He has returned. Again. The bastard.

… before we dive in with Flickr’s changes …

Sheep Photography + Test Drives + Canon

Canon did it again! They teased us for a long, long time and they have finally released their latest ooh la la lens, the 200-400mm ƒ4, so you know we have a few things to say about that!

Brad Pitt anyone? His 2008 images from a magazine spread have popped up again. I’m not sure why, but they have and it’s left folks weighing in on his talent … Are these photos indicative of his mad photo skills or are they just a bunch of grainy family snaps?

Hey, wanna go for a test drive, y’all? If you are in America and you meet the requirements, you might be able to in the form of a bag from Think Tank Photo. They’ve come up with something a little unique, so have a listen and see if you fit the bill.

Oh, Flickr. You Didn’t!

I guess I should say oh Marissa, you DIDN’T? Some huge, HUGE changes were made to the Flickr photo sharing site. The response has definitely been split and it’s left photographers everywhere buzzing. We go through the changes and we share our reactions on said change.

Bits n’ Bites

OK, here come the questions … what are your thoughts about the Canon 200-400mm ƒ4 lens? Would you shell out your hard earned cash on this lens, or any lens in the same price bracket? What are your thoughts about Brad Pitt’s photography? Does his fame influence your opinions of his work? Flickr — what’cha think about their huge change? Are they going in the right direction or alienating too many photographers? Please chime in and let us know what you think!

Staying Social, Y’all

In our never ending attempts to stay social, we still maintain our little spots on the ol’ interwebs. You can find us on TwitterFacebookGoogle Plus, via Stitcher and of course, you can subscribe for free on iTunes! Please hit us up and say howdy!

Episode 46 ~ Year End Reflections, 2012

Episode 46 ~ Year End Reflections, 2012, reflections, Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, camera apps, photography, shutter time with sid and mac, podcast, yegphotoThe End Is Near

The year end, that is! We took to our mics for one last time in 2012 to discuss and reflect on what we have learned this year from having our podcast, why we still have fun recording, etc. But before we get to sitting back with some Christmas cheer induced beverages, we dive in the Instagram debate of late …

Oh No, They Didn’t!

Even though by the time this podcast hits the ol’ internets, the news will be a little old, it’s still being talked about and for good reason. Instagram (Facebook) shocked many photographers and those in and around the industry alike by revising their TOS (terms of service), which implied they would be able to sell your images to advertisers without your consent or knowledge. I know, right? We chew over what the hell they were thinking and the revisions to the revision (ha!) that have taken place due to some strong ass backlash. Have a listen and please let us know what you think about this!

Flickr, You Dead Sexy Thing

Perfect timing on Flickr’s part, but they have done something with their aging app, causing many toes to curl and even tingle.

Ooh, Growth

We reflect over our last year of podcasting and how it has changed us. ‘Nuff said, right? Please tune in and allow us to indulge in more self absorbed chatter. Sort of.

Our Internet Homes

As always, you can find us on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, and of course, you can subscribe for free on iTunes!

A Couple More Notes

We can’t thank you enough for continuing to tune in to our little podcast. It means more to us than you can probably imagine. You’re all fantastic and we couldn’t do this without you.

We forgot to mention this on the show (oh, bugger), but of course, we cannot forget our wonderful friends and guests for sitting down with us for interviews and having a good ol’ photography chat! Thank you so much for participating in the show. Our brilliant and super talented guests have been:

Terry O’Riordan

John De Bord

Ashley Green

Michael Van der Tol

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Feliz Navidad, Happy New Year, candy cane tingles and much more! We are very much looking forward to rocking the mics with you all again in 2013 and making some memories with our cameras. Rawr.

Thanks for tuning in!

Cheers, y’all!

Episode 40 ~ Fabulous At 40!

Episode 40 ~ Fabulous At 40!

Happy Birthday, Us!

Before we dive into social media, we had to celebrate a bit, as we’ve just turned 40 (Sept 26th), huzzah! Thanks to all of our listeners and supporters for tuning in, show after show. We truly couldn’t do it without your support and feedback. Hopefully the next year is even better and we’ll give you loads more content that will makes your ears and minds tingle, and having you itching to click the shutter and make some images and memories. Please keep the feedback coming, as well as any show ideas. We do the show for you all, as well as ourselves. We’re a lil’ narcissistic like that, you know!

Oh, Cheeky Canon

Of course, right after our last show, where we discussed a whole lineup of new gear, Canon announces their latest brainchild after we published the show! Have a listen as we discuss their latest body. Will it measure up? Hmmm …

Social Media Blitz

We’ve been threatening you all for a while with a long recap of my review on Colby Brown’s book, Google + For Photographers. Instead, we briefly discuss the book, and dive in a little deeper and break down some of the available social media options for photographers. Tune in and see if you agree with us and have any opinions and possibly other SM platforms we are missing! If you’re on social media, head to our Facebook and link us up so we can keep in touch with you, or leave us a comment here.

Murphy, The Stalker

Murphy’s Law has made its presence once again during the show. This is my techie plea to you: if you have any suggestions / alternatives to recording podcasts using Skype, please let us know! Drop us a comment, tweet or leave a message on G+ or Facebook. We’d ever be so happy and appreciative.

Bits ‘n Bites

Come hang out with us in our social media nests on the internets. Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, and of course, please subscribe to us for free on iTunes!

Thanks as always for tuning in, y’all! Big high fives to you!
