Episode 177 »» New Year :: Our Photography Goals and More

2018, Y’all

Happy new year, y’all! Thanks for joining us for a new year and more podcasts! We discuss our photography goals and plans for 2018, and more! Mac also shares his thoughts on a new book discussed during our last episode, Seeking Stillness, from Olivier Du Tré.

Hahaha, Canon

There was a slight faux pas on Canon’s part of late regarding a Canon + Fuji image, so we briefly talk about it and have a chuckle. You can check out the photography of Elia Locardi here! Definitely worth having a look!

Speaking of Canon …

I continue my Canon battery rant as I am still unable to find a new battery compatible to my obsolete, but still a cracker of a camera, the EOS 1D Mark III body. After the show, I gave up the battle and realized I will have to buy a new battery + charger to keep using my body. Boo, Canon.

Emo Mac

It took a kindhearted friend and some juicy rolls of film, but we think Emo Mac is no more. Huge thanks and props to our mate Dom for your act of kindness towards our Mac! Now he can stop eyeing his wife’s Fuji. Whew!

Seeking Stillness

Mac shares with us a new book, Seeking Stillness, from Alberta photographer, Olivier Du Tré. He also mentions a video from the chaps at The Camera Store, featuring Olivier, that is worth the watch!

Your Artistic Calling

During our last show, we touched on our artistic calling, knowing it would be a subject we would want to revisit at some point. Our great friend of the show, Mark Reierson, has joined us to discuss this further. Is photography our passion, our calling, or something else? Please join us as we tackle this subject with Mark!

The Great Return  | #changetheconversation

It’s been just over a year and we were finally able to bring back our pal and good friend to the show, incredible photographer, Olaf Sztaba! He penned a couple of great articles on his thoughts on the social media/photo communities that had some scratching their heads about their own involvement in the online photo industry. Consider it a serendipitous moment if you will, as Mac and I were discussing the very same thing off the air, so we knew Olaf was meant to appear on this episode! Please join us as we take the mics to discuss these very topics and also find out what Olaf is up to today.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the show and the articles if you’ve had the change to read them. Has your online involvement ever impacted your own process of making images? We would love to hear about it – the good and the bad, if any. You can find us at Bookface or Twitter! Of course, you can subscribe for free at iTunes or check us out at Stitcher.

Huge thanks to Olaf for coming back on the show! Please make sure to check out his work and the two articles (links at the bottom of the post).

Thanks for tuning in!

Cheers, y’all!
