When Sid is Away

The chaps get real. Deep. Therapeutic even. Welcome to the black couch sessions. While these black couch sessions are nothing new to Shutter Time and we have been doing this for years, we thought we would take to the mics once again after a series of tweets, comments and posts from numerous photographers of late. Thanks to our great friend, Usually Happy Dave, for sparking this episode with his tweet wondering if he has created enough.

Please join Mac and some of our favourite photographers and great friends of the show, Clay Daly, Antonio M. Rosario and Mark Reirson for another engaging conversation on handling the struggles with photography and that ever so present social media connection.

Huge thanks to our friends for joining us on the show and getting personal with their photography!

X This

The latest Fuji camera has been announced and instead of discussing the details, we talk about an article written about the future of X cameras à la Olaf Sztaba.

Godfather

Our inspiration from our great friend of the show, Olaf, continues as we discuss the meaning behind a recent blog post on confidence in photography. Whether you are new to photography or have been around for a long time, the article is worth the read (and this show is worth a listen). Please join us as we take to the mics to discuss taking visual risks, finding our confidence and more! Thanks to Olaf for the articles and inspiring this conversation. If you haven’t checked out his work, please do so as you won’t be disappointed!

Giving Back

While there has been buzz about a free for all photography site such as Unsplash for several years, one we have recently covered twice here on the show, it has been the two recent videos from Zack Arias that have really caught the attention of photographers. In a curious and well thought out manner, he talks about the concerns and impact such a system can have for photographers and on the photography industry itself. While both videos are worth watching, the continued conversation from Arias and those who have responded to his videos and blog posts, has us thinking more about giving back as photographers. What does this mean exactly?

Switch This

One of the show’s greatest friends, fellow podcaster, and our brother from another mother, Antonio M. Rosario, has joined us once again to wrap up our Unsplash trilogy. You may know him as one-half of the fantastic photography podcast, Street Shots, hosted by the Switch to Manual chaps, Antonio and Tom. Please join us as we discuss our final thoughts on this topic, as well as how photographers can give back.

Switch to Manual

Not only do the STM chaps host a great podcast, they also offer other goodness for photographers. One of the cooler services are portfolio reviews! We covered the review process on the show a while back when our Mac had his portfolio reviewed by STM. You can check it out on episode 128. Please check out their services, their kickin’ podcast, Street Shots, and more!

We would love to hear your thoughts on the Unsplash system, and of course, what you think of Zack Arias’ take on this. Do you have any ideas on how you or other photographers can give back to others? Have you thought about having a portfolio review? If you have done so already, what was your experience like? You can chime in and find us on Twitter and Bookface. You can also subscribe to the show for free via iTunes or Stitcher. Huge thanks to Antonio for being our newest Patron and more importantly, for always supporting the show and coming back on once again. Make sure y’all check out his work on Instagram and Twitter!

Thanks so much as always for tuning in, friends!

Cheers, y’all!

When Sid is Away … the Chaps Will Play?

You’ve seen the hashtags all over social media for years now: #filmisnotdead and #ibelieveinfilm … Two of our very good friends of the show, Dom and Clay, join Mac for some good old fashioned filmy goodness. We all know film is as popular as ever these days, and since Mac has now entered year 2 of his ‘film only project‘ and photography way of life, we thought it was a great time to discuss film and all the highs and lows, challenges and perks that comes with shooting film. Please join Mac and friends for a great chat about the good old days of film … today. It’s a great show filled experiences, advice, and the passion and intrigue of shooting with film.

We Missed Him.

It has been too long since we have had him on the show, so when we decided on this topic, we knew we wanted him to join in! Naturally, we are talking about our great friend, some know him as Usually ‘Happy’ Dave, swizzbob, or better yet because he answers the bat signal, Batman. That’s right … you know him, you love him, and he’s baaaack!

We Are Listening!

Big thanks to our new friend, Laurie, for the show idea. We have not done this for a while, so right away we knew we needed to have a fresh 2018 version! Please join us as we, along with Usually ‘Happy‘ Dave, discuss some of our most inspirational photographers! We hope everyone enjoys the list and y’all discover some new photographers.
