Episode 125 »» Year End Storm, shutter time with sid and mac photography podcastGear Chat

Oops, we did it again (thanks, Brit) … somehow gear chat finds a way to make it in our show most days … today is no exception. ‘Nuff said.

In the Storm

National Geographic announced their winners from their annual photography contest and once again, the winning images didn’t disappoint in one way or the other. Some of the images were fantastic and others kicked up a bit of a storm, the grand prize winning image in particular. Please join us as we discuss some of the images and the debate surrounding the mack daddy photograph.

Defining Moments

Sometimes we just end up discussing things which were not planned and this is one of them (cheeky Mac). The Guardian released two very different lists regarding photography: the 20 photographs of the year (as described on the site, “the world’s leading photojournalists describe how they captured 20 defining images in 2015”), and the best photographs of 2015. Some photos made the list twice. As we discuss the first list, Mac and I had very different opinions and we battle it out a bit.

Join the Convo

What are your thoughts on the National Geographic winning image for 2015? Well deserved? We’d love to know your defining image you made in 2015, as well as a image or two taken by someone else which you feel is a defining photograph of 2015. Please keep the conversation going and check us out at Twitter and BookFace and of course, you can subscribe for free via iTunes and Stitcher.

Happy New Year, friends! Thanks as always for your support, interaction and more throughout another year. Here’s to making many more images in 2016!

Thanks for listening!

Cheers, y’all!
