Rules. Golden Ones.

A recent article about the golden ratio in photography had some photographers all riled up, ourselves included, so we thought we would take to the mics to discuss a few rules which seemed to be forced on us by some.  Do these rules even have any weight in today’s photography world and how important are these rules for telling your story?

  1. Hey guy’s! Great show and discussion. My thoughts are… Break every rule! 🙂 Nah, well… it depends. 🙂 I think the ” rules ” in photography are to be used as a guideline. When I first see something that moves me and I know I want to make a picture I do not think of rules. When I am composing sometimes I remember to look deeper into the frame to see where my eyes are drawn. The light, level horizon, leading lines, rule of thirds and so on are somewhere in my mind but for the most part it is what pleases me that holds the most weight. Sometimes breaking these so called rules can lead to a more interesting shot and I’m not that interesting. 🙂 Keep up the great discussions. Cant wait for the next show. Sid seems pretty excited. 🙂
